A new job...sort of...
My position with the prepping section in the Department of Revenue has ended. When I went to my temp agency to get a new position, they asked if I would be interested in another opening in the same building, still with the Dept of Revenue, but this time in a different section. I decided to take it, since I already know the ropes of the building, how long it takes to get there, how the hours work, and so forth. I was halfway hoping my next assignment would pay more, but I'm getting by just fine on $9 an hour, so I'll take it for now.I started the new job this week. The work is similar: sorting and batching paperwork, which there is no shortage 0f now that tax season has begun. The only difference is the type of paperwork we sort, and that there are a few extra steps involved, such as dividing up W2s from their accompanying processing forms, and highlighting account numbers, and the like. I'm in a cubicle now, instead of in an open room. This means rather than being amongst a group of people, it's more private. The only person I talk to throughout the day is the other temp who shares my cubicle. He's quite sociable and has a good sense of humor, so we get along. He's also been there for two weeks already, so he can answer my questions that come up. Other than that, people will occassionally stop by and peak over the top of the cubicle and ask us things, or say hi, or something like that. The rest of the time we spend in silence, listening to music over headphones to make the menial labor pass more quickly.
It pays the rent. That's all I care about right now. It isn't particularly stressful aside from the fact that I have to wake up at 5:30 AM...*dyuuughughughhh* (Sideshow Bob shuddering impression)
