Mike Lizard Found!
Last week I finally found and captured the lizard. It was a long process involving lots of patience and pieces of trapping equipment (magazines, tupperware), but it was worth the peace of mind in the end. The heating pad did in fact lure him as predicted, and since he was subdued from the cold, he was not easily spooked. However, this also meant that he walked very slowly up the side of the terrarium (the only place left to go after I blocked all other means of escape with magazines). I had to prod him with a chopstick a few times, but when the moment finally arrived and he reached the top of the enclosure, it was quick work shoo-ing him into it and replacing the lid soundly. Here are some pictures of him, finally, although they're not very clear. The first is just his cage; the second is the lizard, but I had to take it through the mesh top of his enclosure.
I have another picture of him on my phone which is a little clearer. I will post it later.
